Where Walt Disney’s story began.

Step inside the modest Chicago home where Walt and Roy Disney were born—and discover how imagination, perseverance, and family shaped a story that inspired the world.

Every great dream starts somewhere.

Built by Walt’s father, Elias Disney, this home at 2156 N. Tripp Avenue welcomed Walt Disney into the world in 1901 and his brother Roy in 1893. Today, the Walt Disney Birthplace preserves that beginning and shares the values that carried two brothers from a Chicago neighborhood to a lifetime of imagination and innovation.

Preserving the place where possibility began

The Walt Disney Birthplace is more than a historic house. It is a place where visitors can connect with the early life of a global storyteller, and where young dreamers can see that remarkable ideas often begin in ordinary places.

Our work restores the home, preserves its history, and creates welcoming experiences rooted in imagination, learning, family, and community.
